Where were you born?

I was born and raised in Paris, Texas, until moving to Dallas to attend college. I’ve been in Dallas since I graduated.

Education

I am a graduate of Southern Methodist University, where I was blessed to receive a full scholarship to play basketball, and I majored in Business and Economics. I also attended Grayson Community College for one year. I’ve been an educator for 20 years at Lakeview Centennial High School. At Lakeview, I teach Personal Finance in the Business Magnet, sponsor the National Honor Society, I’m the Department Chair for the Business Magnet, and I’m one of the Directors for Black History Month. I absolutely love what I do! I have a passion to teach people how to manage and be good stewards over their money. Teaching is definitely a ministry for me! 

How long have you been in the ministry?

Before transferring my membership to minister alongside Pastor Malcolm at New Testament Bible Church, I was a member of LightChurch in Dallas under the leadership of Pastor Ron and Sister Veda Shaw. During my tenure at LightChurch, I learned so much about servanthood leadership and about using the spiritual gifts God blessed me with to serve others. To lead, I must first learn how to follow, be the first to serve, and not expect to be served! I served on the Finance Team as well as the Music Ministry. In 2018, we officially transferred our membership to New Testament Bible Church and I currently serve alongside Pastor Malcolm. I serve on the Finance Team and in the Music Ministry here as well, and I also help to facilitate Women’s Bible Study.

Your Thoughts on Ministry

As it pertains to ministry, our example is Jesus — always — because of His leadership, servanthood, and love for people. I believe in making sure that the Living Word is my compass, and therefore making sure I share the Word with as many people as I can. We should not only read the Word, but also apply it to our daily lives. 

Favorite Scripture?

Luke 12:48 — When someone has been given much, much will be required in return; and when someone has been entrusted with much, even more will be required….

Hobbies?

Reading, singing, dancing (at home ?), assisting with Elijah’s basketball team, shopping.

Family

Husband Malcolm of 18 years (He’s an amazing husband, Dad, and man of God!). We have three sons: Davon, Justin, and Elijah. Our boys are truly a gift from the Lord!
